Day 21 Find Focus

It’s been a while and I have been trying to keep this active but things need more time and focus and I had to prioritize myself in working efficiently and diligently.

Although I have few things to share I want to give you something cool I came across not long time ago. Maybe this can inspire some of you to look into.

I find these images very intriguing and there is a sense of authentic memory that reside within each and every photograph.

Week 3 Getting back to it

Today is the third day of my production work, and its a long way to go.

I’ve been trying to keep this updated but its hard. Yet, I want to try to revive this platform and share more of my ideas and content. Sometimes I find it hard to get my head around to what I should develop all of this into, but somehow I will never succeed if I will postpone everyday for a better day. So to this I should try to maintain and equilibrium and become more fluid and fluent within the content that I post.

I’ve been still recording my days and somehow I want to share this with you guys. These images although they might seem quilted with some sort of tension, they have been the get away and instance of my constantly busy days, where I took a slide and a moment for myself. Me time. Absorbed by the work, and constant battle of developing creative things I find it hard to make a constant self persistence of myself. I will try.

Here is a sneak pick to the development of my thesis. The narrative as I explained before is about a guy nicknamed Brice, who takes himself into a journey in understanding his purpose and relevance within his quiet and voided world.

What’s next?

I will be working on models in the coming week and as well I will kick off with my initial 2d animation development, hopefully keeping you updated more often. I will look forward for this, but for now salute!

Day 9 Live in the moment

Today I started pushing forward some of my ideas that I am going to present for my final MA thesis. It is a scary move to do, but I am hoping for the best. It is a journey that I don’t want it to end, but at the same time I look forward to getting this work done and doing my best to create something meaningful and full of good lessons for me to digest and process. After that I don’t know what my life will hold!

I am trying to understand and appreciate all the beautiful skies that are still here for me to enjoy. I have made such great friends and I can’t bear the fact that it will soon be over. I am so grateful for having had a blast time here!

Anyways I’m leaving with this today! Nothing that conceptual but rather a touch of my life and some happiness, that I find within all this work.

Sometimes you need to step away from what you re presenting and analyse to full extent what you would like to achieve with all of this work. Through the past months I have been working and developing my skills into becoming better and more proficient in what I do.

Rediscovering techniques, reanalyzing methods of practices I started to understand how much I still have to understand within this world that I live in.

From pitching, to project management, to Python and all the chaoticness that logic brings with, diverged into compositing  and animation configurations, I have given myself time to learn and digest all the greatness that knowledge and time can offer.

The missions will soon take of to a new level of grandiosity. I belief that great things will come my way.

Week 8 – The next step

Looking back to the start of this project I can see that social media shares an integral part to the basis of today’s current world. The different abilities that it has towards connecting and disconnecting itself, is one that has allowed me to explore within the developed work. Positive feedback from different users, has enabled me to create different experimental pieces that further amplify the issue. Targeting various people by means of hash tags I created a small community that filters within my perception of virtual connection.

‘AHA MOMENT’

Before Setting off with this project I thought that the digital sphere that I was used to mainly that of Facebook was the only communicative social interaction that I could reach out to an audience. Having been forced to move away from Facebook and direct my reach in other social media platforms, it has truly showed me how limited and close minded is the Facebook sphere. Something that individuals in Malta have not truly yet explored.

What will happen Next?

I am very positive with this approach and through this experiment, I was able to acknowledge that the subject at hand is very elaborate and further investigation will reach into places that I have not yet discovered. In the coming months I would like to further explore and investigate these platforms within exposing the dichotomy that this interaction allows. Through my own brand identity as a freelance designer I will push and work into evolving my name towards projects as #thesocialreality under the name of michelinmission.

Week 7 Being Authentic

To each and every dichotomy the beauty that social media transmits, provide certain users freedom ‘to a certain extent’ and the freedom to explore different loop holes that make this interaction unique and beautiful to engage with.

As found within Howard’s Newman adventure to Amsterdam, the simple technology failure, provides us with something that is profound and deeply impact to the mundane and vernacular videos that access the linearity of abiding with the rules.

(This link has been removed from the channel ;/) It was about a grand father which recorded his journey to Amsterdam with a new go pro in the wrong direction. What you could see in the video was the random reactions and laughs he had with his wife.

In thus similar way the back Camera process has allowed me to interact within shapes and different manipulative processes upon which the linearity of the previous weeks could be further distorted and deviated from the actual truth, providing a clearer outlook towards the social reality of the whole process. In this Light different angles and light processes has been formed and worked upon.

BEME

https://beme.com/(A great APP to try out)

Another interesting APP that has been launched for Android last week is that of created by Casey Neistat a New York Film Maker. An app that removes the element of filter and edits and seeks to portray the raw moments that we live in. The only thing that you can review is the reactions that people send back, which is only seen once. To this the resolving idea of moment bears within an important part in portraying the true and authentic experience.

Collaboration for Ai WeiWei is possible within the different spaces found within the social interaction. The act of sharing an idea is one of utmost importance.

Trying to expose the reality that I find compelling within the social media, I looked within my authentic perspective and reaction to this project. At times I failed in providing a clear outlook to the dichotomy and pattern and see everyday. Nonetheless, I kept on trying.

Week 6 It is all real! PROMISE

The reality that social media push forward, is one that has always sought to identify itself as pure and perfect in all ways. In this light people with some brains would know that this is a manipulative system that people fall for very easily. Taking into account Zilla Van Den Born fake journey to Asia, her ability to convince her family and friends about this fake journey truly encapsulates the social reality that social media forces on us.

Check out her process:

This week I have looked within the inner depths of this augmented reality that we live in. As the previous example I started to explore and delve deeper the notion of reality and virtual perception of social interaction.

5/02/the-meaning-behind-instagram-filters-and-how-they-make-your-memories-brighter/

Instagram Filters and the dichotomy that is found within the manipulation that it projects.

What drives us? Is it because we would like to have a statement that is mainstream and urban?

To this light I created a series of work that challenges the different filters and non filter effects within a photo. To this result I could acknowledge that in some chases no filter photos provided less drama but for some reason it resonated better than the manipulated image.

White Washing of lies within the photo:

To this I stand to question whether people are engaged within the real or the hyper real form of understanding. Through further investigation I will try to further acknowledge the interaction that these parallels portray.

#Somethingtothinkabout

“Disneyland is presented as imaginary in order to make us believe that the rest is real, whereas all of Los Angeles and the America that surrounds it are no longer real, but belong to the hyperreal order and to the order of simulation. It is no longer a question of a false representation of reality (ideology) but of concealing the fact that the real is no longer real, and thus of saving the reality principle.” -Jean Baudrillard ,Simulacra and Simulation

Where he tries to evaluate the exterior image of the imperfect DISNEY WORLD to the condition that the outer space provides. A dichotomy in which it portrays the difference as found within social media. Taking it to a visual account, as the controversial street artists BANKSY in his work portrays this dichotomy to us all to see.

Taking this to account is this the hidden reality of the SOCIAL MEDIA? Are we being controlled? Is this the fantasy we live in whilst browsing the online interface? Are we in control?

Invisible relationships build via. network. Is this Connection?

‘Something they can’t get in real life’

The following video is a visual representation of the negative and positive comments found online, addressing the image and the ways people interact with one another. Are we hiding within these spaces? is this a virtual reality.

Essena O’Neill, as she states below she describes the manipulative side of being a social media sensation.

But for people like this the online platform is the accessibility and a means of interacting….an Accessibility !

Week 5 Frustration

Sometimes you need to vent out the suppression that engulfs within this reality that we are unknowingly living in. Distant and away you need time to think and embrace this reality that identifies me from you.

In the past week I felt a huge element of frustration that this whole social media life that I am living in is providing me with. It is as though I am just enslaved to its power and the only interaction that I have with it, are needs and obligations that other want me to respond to. From Likes to hearts, to comments, and feedback, the social interaction seemed more than ever as something linear and anything but interactive.

This frustrated me in many ways. Although I cannot exactly provide a clear outlook to this frustration, I can use symbols to help out with explaining this overwhelming notion of being in such a position.

Looking into it as the way you look into food. The appearance to a delightful platter of crispy glazed onion rings with a side dish or what anything but great food, most of the time deceives within that instant bite you take. Realising that it was nothing that you have actually imagined off, creating the initial part of this disappointment.

Together with this social media tends to give us that instant pleasure that is most of the time superficially needed ;/ and suppressed the minute you eat everything and the only available button left would be the refresh button. Waiting hesitantly for that like, heart, news feed anything but new, for you to eat or find.

To think about it. I can think about thing , that is how mentally and physiologically drained we have truly become.

where on earth has that 7 year kid with passion to create and invent go? how did we survive before? how did other people survive without this bubble of us and no we?
